Join the award-winning Chicago Interior Designers of the Susan Fredman Design Group for an evening of artistic expression. The “interior design specialists” invite you to their home store, At Home in the City, in Chicago’s River North neighborhood to indulge in the art of design. The evening is focused on celebrating their one year anniversary, highlighting both local and national artists with a portion of proceeds benefiting Marwen.
Temporary exhibit includes artists Tracy Silva Barbosa, Judith Kruger’s Klay collection, Teri Tito (pictured above), Marie Burke, Diane Dammeyer, Gina Novendstern, Floyd Gompf and Norbert Shimkus. A portion of proceeds in store and artwork sales will be donated to Marwen, a non-profit dedicated to inspiring under served young people through the visual arts. www.marwen.org

Aiming at Affluence: Marketing Interior Design for Luxury Clients demonstrates a deep knowledge of both the luxury home furnishings market as well as the interior design profession. It informs designers with proven perspectives and inspires with ways to seize those opportunities. Steve Nobel is the author of Aiming at Affluence; Marketing Interior Design to Luxury Clients, and speaks frequently on the topic. He is Co-Founder and Chairman of The Luxury Home Alliance, and a sustaining member of The Luxury Marketing Council Worldwide. Since 1994 when he founded his consulting firm NOBELINKS, he has specialized in the markets for luxury at home, assisting his clients to build home furnishings
brands, and advance the market for interior design and decoration.

Acclaimed Merchandise Mart Design Center showrooms use their own furniture, fabrics and accessories to create a luxury living space. The Dream Rooms exhibition is open to the public to discover all the luxury resources available at The Merchandise Mart Design Center.
Green With Envy: The Kravet Dream Room

Ruth Mortensen, Jase Frederick and Nancy Abramovitz
From the Dreamgirls of the Susan Fredman Design Group comes a savvy sitting room sponsored by Kravet. The sitting room is being used to showcase Kravet’s new and innovative green design solutions and illustrate to the public that green design can truly be beautiful. The vignette has contemporary lines and is juxtaposed with soft sexy accents. The room consists of two seating areas defined by sisal rugs which create order in the space while ceiling treatments create a sense of procession. A dark moody sexiness is fashioned through the use of a dual and tight color palette. The palette is enhanced by the lighting becoming an architectural element and following the horizontal lines of the room. Unique detailing crafts the space such as; a chair rail which transitions into an artwork frame, texture which defines an accent wall and the softness of drapery treatments that craft friction with the opposing wall. The artwork adds a finishing touch to the space and was commissioned with contemporary artist, Teri Tito. This room was designed to provide inspiration to the public and demonstrate that green design truly can be beautiful.
