DESIGNS FOR DIGNITY

A nonprofit design resource, Designs for Dignity (DFD) provides pro bono design services by professional interior designers to area nonprofits as well as Heartland Alliance program sites to create environments that reflect dignity, hope and comfort. Projects range in scope from small to large and include childcare facilities, assisted living centers, shelters for survivors of domestic abuse, supportive housing for formerly homeless individuals and much more. For both the people who work in these organizations and those who come there to be helped, environments that enhance our work efforts and comfort our spirits provide a sense of caring that nurtures human beings.

DFD works with a network of designers, manufacturers, and suppliers to provide each project with the expertise and materials specific to the aesthetic and structural needs of the project. DFD acknowledges the enormous excess in the design industry, and moves that surplus into much needed environments; to those in need. The organization serves as the permanent recycling program for the design industry. DFD uses excess furniture, paint, flooring, and accessories and create interiors for area nonprofits like treatment centers, food pantries, day care centers and social services offices. Volunteer designers donate time and expertise to help those organizations work, serve clients in a healing space.
